Cervical Disc Replacement

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), first introduced by Robinson, Smith, and Cloward in the 1950s, has long been the standard surgical treatment for cervical disc disease. Despite high success rates and widespread use, ACDF inevitably results in loss of motion at the treated level and may accelerate adjacent segment degeneration due to altered biomechanics and increased stress transfer.
