摘要

Adult spinal deformity represents a prevalent, disabling contributor to loss of quality and loss of function within an aging population. Traditional techniques of open surgery for deformity correction may not be suitable across all patients, whereas growing emphasis on the use of minimally invasive modalities portends achieving the same goals with a lesser cost. The minimally invasive pedicle subtraction osteotomy (MIS-PSO) presents an opportunity for achieving advanced deformity correction, particularly in sagittal malalignment and thoracolumbar kyphoscoliosis, while avoiding the perioperative risk profile of traditional approaches.
