Moving to Kunming
摘要
Because of the continuing threat of war, our school had to move again, this time to Kunming. By the end of February, we arrived in Kunming, and settled into the Kunhua Middle School, Kunhua Elementary School and Yuantong Temple where we prepared to start our classes. Mr. Teng wanted to hire Chang Shuhong as the Dean, but the decision was opposed by students from Hangzhou when Mr. Teng consulted others for their opinions. Mr. Fang Ganmin argued that Mr. Chang had already lost his support from students at Changzhou, and thus this re-appointment would likely be opposed by students. He suggested bringing Wu Dayu back, but Professor Wu was aloof and was keeping some distance from us and the school. It was therefore decided to send me to ask Professor Wu’s opinion as to whether he wanted to come back. If the answer was yes, then Mr. Teng would visit him in person and officially invite him to return. Mr. Teng wanted high quality teaching, and thus took Mr. Fang’s suggestion. Mr. Fang was appointed as the dean, and I was sent to Professor Wu’s house.
