The 60th Anniversary of the National School of Art
摘要
On the 10th of April, 1988, it was the 60th anniversary of the National School of Art. Reminiscing about the past and thinking about the future is truly heartwarming for me! During the 8 years of the Anti-Japanese War, people had their lives turned upside down, suffered greatly, and after the victory finally were able to relocate back in Hangzhou. What to do about this! I urged all of my classmates to take this anniversary opportunity to come back for a reunion of this white-haired generation. They did not disappoint me. Even Wang Changjie from the United States flew back. Those alumni still in China, regardless of whether they were from Yunnan, Guangdong, Liaoning and Shenyang, Chengdu or Chongqing, all attended. It was such a big party for all concerned. What made the whole anniversary more meaningful was that the School decided to hold an exhibition that would include everyone. Not only the current students and teachers, but also all alumni were invited to submit an artwork or two. This opportunity greatly enriched the alumni with the idea and feeling of solidarity, friendship, and of never forgetting the importance of the past.
