Back to Maling Mountain

After more than 2 months of dealing with the police station, public security bureau, and the military regions, I finally managed to get the army to vacate my house at Maling Mountain and return to my home. The house was in a mess, and all the furniture was gone. The good and surprising thing was that Cai Weilian’s, Wu Dayu’s and my paintings, except the artwork, Glasses with black frames, had been placed in the basement and were undamaged. After I settled in, I immediately filed an appeal to the police station and to the local government asking for a rectification and proper compensation. This procedure is so hard and time-consuming! After my enormous efforts, the deputy director of Hangzhou Public Security Bureau studied my case. Hangzhou’s Public Security Bureau, Zhejiang Public Security Bureau and Zhejiang Military Regions together negotiated with me and finally decided on compensation for me of 100,000 Yuan in old currency to resolve this case. To me, I suffered a much greater loss but as a prisoner for 2 years, this is could be considered a large compensation amount. However, as a consequence of this outcome, I later suffered for several decades.
