A Career Intermission

In May, 1948, all the graduating students were taken to Suzhou for a tour. We resided in the Suzhou Social Education College. Ni Yide and I were responsible for all the students. Two of my former schoolmates, Lu Shi and Min Shuqian, were the art instructors at that college, so they were happy to meet their old friends. At the same time, Ni’s wife, Liu Wei (whose surname was originally You and who was originally a teacher for painting classes in a middle school) was teaching a worldwide, self-created “sketching class” in that college.
