Another Student Movement at the National School of Art

During the time I was away from my hometown for more than 5 months, the public security was greatly improved. For my personal convenience, I was still living in Heqiao town. The private Pengcheng School intended to hire me to teach Chinese, and meanwhile I was also invited by Wu Yangchu, an old friend of my family and the headmaster of the private Yangchu Primary School, to teach painting to two of his classes. He also offered free board with this arrangement. In the early summer of 1947, when the summer vacation was getting close, I received a letter from Zao Wou-Ki inviting me to Hangzhou for a discussion about a student movement at the National Art School. So, I departed, and lived there in Wou-Ki’s home for over a month.
