Standardisation Supporting Sustainability Objectives

In separate chapters of the present book, a detailed introduction is given to the European Green Deal as a major framework under which a number of legislations have been initiated and maintained, and the related Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation and Energy Labelling Regulation are managed. In the present chapter, we complement this overview by providing a summary of available standards, and specifically harmonised standards, supporting the implementation of the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Legislations. While there are currently no references of harmonised standards available which would be providing presumption of conformity to the ecodesign and energy labelling framework directives, there are such harmonised standards published in the Official Journal in the context of related implementing measures. The understanding of the related framework is essential especially for manufacturers for related products to ensure that all requirements are met for accessing the European Union Single Market.
