Digital Pathways to Sustainability: Insights Beyond Europe
摘要
While Europe is placing significant political weight on sustainability objectives, other regions in the world also engage with similar ambitions. In this chapter, we outline the local actions of the United States, Brazil, India, and the UAE to understand how each has developed distinct approaches. Each context reflects a different combination of governance structures, institutional capacity, and sociopolitical priorities. We discuss how Brazil uses digital tools to protect ecosystems and reduce inequalities, how India focuses on large-scale administrative efficiency and inclusion, how the UAE aligns digitalization with its Net Zero 2050 agenda, and how the United States combines federal initiatives, state regulations, and industry-driven innovation in a complex and often politically divided landscape. By comparing these cases, we identify shared challenges and opportunities to advance digital sustainability beyond Europe.
