Contextualized Activities of Daily Living in Stroke Rehabilitation
摘要
This chapter explores the background and significance of disability following stroke, outlining the purpose and scope of the discussion to highlight the challenges faced by stroke survivors and the need for effective rehabilitation strategies. The chapter particularly focuses on activities of daily living (ADLs), distinguishing between basic and instrumental ADLs, and discusses approaches to retraining these skills and their effects. Instrumental ADLs are given special attention due to their importance in promoting independence. It also highlights the importance of contextualized rehabilitation tailored to individual needs, identifies gaps in current practice, and supports these insights with relevant literature, underscoring the vital role of personalized rehabilitation in enhancing the quality of life for stroke survivors.
