International Cooperative Research on Dynamic Mapping for Risk and Crises Management in Big Data Era

The project is under the cooperation between Key Laboratory of Virtual Geographic Environment of Nanjing Normal University, China and laboratory on Geoinformatics and Cartography, Masaryk University, Czech Republic, to research on dynamic mapping methods for risk early warning and disaster management. This project has achieved mutual visits and held bilateral seminars in Brno and Nanjing for several times. We also organized and participated in many international conferences. We have an in-depth understanding of the big data framework, data integration, management and mining, map design and application for disaster management and early warning of the Czech Republic and the EU. Innovative international cooperation studies have been conducted on the geographical conditions, disasters, data, map design and production of both sides. The three major goals proposed by both sides in the project task book, such as improving the accuracy of big data, the efficiency of mapping, and the adaptivity of maps. We cooperated and approached around the big data acquisition, analysis and management for disaster management; quality of VGI data; the applications of phone data and video data in disaster management; cartographic generalization model and methods based on high performance computing platform; etc.
