Resilient Innovation for Sustainable Development

As an innovative model for addressing uncertainties and complex challenges, resilient innovation boasts significant advantages and potential in promoting sustainable development. This paper first explores the concept and characteristics of resilient innovation, analyzing its intrinsic connection with bottom-line thinking, and outlining a route of development for resilience innovation. Resilient innovation, which emphasizes foresight and assessment, dynamic adaptation, recovery from crisis, and continuous innovation, is an effective approach to coping with rapidly changing environments and potential crises. Secondly, through the analysis of two cases, this paper examines the applications of resilient innovation in boosting sustainable development: (1) the development and implementation of centralized domestic wastewater treatment facilities in rural areas affected by floods, (2) the R & D and application of advanced water purification technologies. Finally, this paper argues that risk management should be applied throughout the entire process of resilient innovation and identifies three key factors for fostering resilient innovation: technological application, management improvement, and safety culture development. Based on these insights, the paper proposes strategic recommendations for leveraging resilient innovation to drive sustainable development
