Challenges for Critical Infrastructure Resilience in Small States: Ensuring End-to-End Supply Chain Security in Slovenia

The international security environment is increasingly exposed to complex risks that cannot be managed with the traditional security concepts we have known until now. The cybersecurity environment has further complicated this complexity in understanding security threats. It is no longer possible to seek appropriate solutions within limited approaches, as the cyber environment transcends traditional national borders, forcing us to seek common approaches at a global level. In recent times, it has become evident that supply chain security has become one of the key segments for correctly understanding a comprehensive approach to ensuring cybersecurity. However, it is impossible to fully implement this due to differing understandings of global security models and the enforcement of various geostrategic interests. The fact remains that the EU is not self-sufficient and must find synergies in strategic partnerships with all countries involved in the significant global supply chain, such as China. For smaller countries like Slovenia, which face additional significant challenges primarily resulting from a lack of important resources, this need is even more pronounced. It is essential to find suitable synergies for global cooperation in this area, which will ensure the implementation of unified principles for cybersecurity at the global level.
