Role of Herb, Spices, and Plant Extracts in Animal Health and Productivity
摘要
Herbs, spices, and several other plant derivatives are examples of phytogenic feed additives, which are utilized as animal feed supplements. One of the biggest challenges facing animal nutritionists is figuring out how to enhance animal output while preventing and curing disease in an environmentally responsible manner. Herbs, spices, and plant extracts have been studied more and employed in animal nutrition and production due to their possible health benefits, which include improving growth, boosting immunity, and increasing productivity. They provide natural alternatives to synthetic additives, promoting sustainability and animal welfare. Herbs, spices, and plant extracts include a variety of antioxidants, including flavonoids, polyphenols, and vitamins C and E. They may aid in digestion. Numerous plant and herb extracts are well known for their anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. Furthermore, it has been asserted that several spices, herbs, or their constituents promote the production of intestinal mucus. This effect could account for better production performance after adding these phytogenic feed additives. According to the research now accessible, the list of non-antibiotic growth stimulants for cattle, which includes probiotics and organic acids, may be enhanced by phytogenic feed additions like herbs and spices.
