This introductory chapter defines the central research question of how to develop a context-based framework for training ICT skills for in-service EFL teachers in Vietnam. It provides an overview of the research and is organized into six sections. The first section presents the background and contexts of the study. The second section reviews current research related to the use of educational technology in language teaching in Vietnam. The third section presents the research problem articulates the research questions. The fourth section discusses the significance of the study, followed by an overview of the organization of the research in the fifth section. The final section summarises the key points of this chapter.
