Islet Isolation Techniques for Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Autotransplantation (TPIAT)
摘要
Total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT) is a unique procedure that involves close teamwork between transplant surgeons and laboratory technologists. Success, in terms of achieving optimal glycemic control after transplantation, depends on careful selection of patients and the employment of laboratory techniques that will yield high-quality islet mass from the inflamed pancreata. This chapter highlights details on islet isolation technology (Sect. 6.1) and pretransplant assessment of the pancreas for the prediction of improved islet yield and graft function (Sect. 6.2).
