Role of the Transplant Nurse Coordinator for Total Pancreatectomy and Islet Autotransplantation
摘要
The role of the transplant coordinator in total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplant (TPIAT) is unique and multifaceted. In addition to expert-level skills in nursing assessment, triage, and evaluation, a TPIAT registered nurse care coordinator (RNCC) must possess an in-depth knowledge of pancreatic pathophysiology, pancreatitis and associated complications, abnormal laboratory tests, pertinent imaging, and procedures. Given that pancreatitis affects patients of all ages, the TPIAT RNCC must be capable of providing care to people across the aging spectrum.
