Simulation for Pediatric Cardiac Medicine

  • Tarek Hazwani

摘要

Errors related to human factors are common across all areas of healthcare and can result in significantly increased patient morbidity and mortality. Human errors are highly likely to occur in complex, high stress environments such as intensive care units and emergency departments. Healthcare simulation is an interactive training method that combines advanced technologies, contemporary adult learning, and clinical medical practices. This training approach in healthcare has been shown to reduce costs, improve performance, and reduce the risk of human errors in the medical field. Simulation thrives on the concept of repetitive reproducible scenarios to allow consistent prompts, practice, iterative learning and performance, to demonstrate competence and a higher level of patient safety on an efficient scale, and to provide improved safety for patients and learners at increasing levels of difficulty.
