The diagnosis of abnormal swallowing (dysphagia) is not uncommon in children with cardiac defects, especially in those who had single or multiple stage heart surgery. Decreased energy levels in children with cardiac problems may affect the quality of oral feeding, hence, affecting the nutrition and hydration.
