Familial Hyperlipidemia in Pediatric Cardiac Care

Pediatric dyslipidemia can be classified into a primary and secondary form; while primary dyslipidemia is often due to inherited genetic conditions that lead to an increase in atherogenic lipoproteins starting at early childhood, secondary dyslipidemia is caused frequently by underlying conditions such as obesity and hypothyroidism.
