摘要

Chronic exposure to low oxygen saturation in patients with cyanotic CHD is generally adapted physiologically by an increase of red blood cell mass to improve oxygen delivery; this process is called secondary erythrocytosis. Pathological consequences of secondary erythropoiesis, such as polycythemia, iron deficiency, coagulopathy, and hyperuricemia, are undesirable and should be prevented as much as possible.
