Management of Hypercyanotic Spells

Hypercyanotic spells (HCS) occur in children with cyanotic congenital heart disease, in particular, tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and have been described in pulmonary atresia, tricuspid atresia, and transposition of great arteries. They usually occur in the first 6 months of life, early in the morning, or in the context of stress or dehydration, and last from minutes to hours.
