Catheter-Based Closure of Shunt Lesions

Surgical repair has been the mainstay of treatment for structural congenital heart defects in children and adults for over half a century. During the last 20 years, however, various catheter-based interventional procedures have emerged as an alternative to surgery for some lesions. They have even the potential for anatomical correction with reduced early morbidity.
