Finite Element Formulation for Heat Transfer

Since Finite Element MethodFinite Element Method (FEM) is a general mathematical approach for solving partial differential equations (PDEs), its application extend to various field phenomena, which are governed by PDEs such as elasticity, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, electro-magnetics, etc. This chapter explores the application of FEM in heat transfer. Beginning with a brief overview of the fundamentals of heat transfer, the chapter describes how to model a typical heat transfer problem using FEM.
