Congenital Hymen Abnormality
摘要
The imperforate hymen is one of the most common congenital hymen abnormalities. As one of the obstructive female tract abnormalities, the typical manifestation is primary amenorrhea and periodic lower abdominal pain. Typically, no vaginal opening and mucosa with blue-purple cystic mass bulges within bilateral labial are found during physical examinations. Ultrasonography or MRI can help to differentially diagnose vaginal septum and vaginal atresia. The traditional surgical technique is to make a cross incision on the virginal membrane, remove multiple tissues, and suture the edge of the virginal membrane with absorbable suture.
