Applied Mathematics Explored

Following his research on Goldbach Conjecture, Wang Yuan moved to the applications of number theory. He worked with his teacher Hua Loo-Keng to apply number theory to calculation of multiple integrals and established a numerical integration method known as the Hua-Wang Method. Collaborative research of Wang Yuan and his partners remains in bloom and has blazed new ground in the applications of the number theory- a field usually considered as useless. In this chapter, as well as in later Chap. 9, we could have a glimpse on Wang’s insights into applied mathematics and how he worked in this field.
