The Influence and Impact of Whiteness Across Decolonial Theory and Practices
摘要
Whiteness, as a theory and form of practices, has an underlying influence and impact on the approach and actions of decolonization and decoloniality. In this chapter, the application of these perspectives will be explored to further understand the way in which Whiteness has pervaded, permeated, and persuaded societies globally. Existing literature on decolonization will be explored, looking at the way in which societies, predominately from First Nations communities that have been colonized by Western forces, implement this approach. Decoloniality sits as a separate perspective and practice and will also be examined for its role and responsibilities to deconstruct the ongoing impacts of Western modernity. Overall, the influence of Whiteness will be examined within decolonial theory and its accompanying approaches and actions, acknowledging the need to decenter White and Western discourses to achieve the ultimate aims, objectives, and outcomes of decolonization and decoloniality.
