Critical Whiteness in Criminal Justice Systems

  • Alex Workman,

摘要

Critical Whiteness in criminal justice highlights ongoing issues that perpetuate disadvantages for many marginalized groups. Throughout this section, contributors identified ways critical Whiteness permeates for different people, encountering diverse outcomes. These stem across different branches of the criminal justice system to include issues such as Indigenous overrepresentation, colonialism and incarceration, how policies are created, how crime scenes are managed through forensic sciences, and how issues such as domestic violence are represented, investigated, and advocated for. While these chapters offer a snapshot of the dominant discourses perpetuating Whiteness, the authors offer insights into how these can be deconstructed.
