The potential silica utilization as an adsorbent continues to develop. In this study, silica was extracted from bamboo leaf ash using the sol-gel method with NaOH and HCl as the main chemicals. The formation of Na-silicate was obtained by refluxing bamboo leaf ash with NaOH at a temperature of 80 °C for 2 h and then adding HCl until the pH was neutral to obtain silica gel. The silica gel is then filtered and heated to obtain bio-silica. The bio-silica is characterized using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), surface area analyzer (SAA), and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). The bio-silica application process was carried out on the adsorption of iodine, methylene blue, chloroform, benzene, and ammonia compounds to produce adsorption capacities of 107.6 mg/g, 70.28 mg/g, 2.51%, 14.22%, 15.7%, and 19.46. %. In the future, silica from natural material waste such as bamboo can be an alternative adsorbent for various adsorption processes.

摘要
