Migration and Neo-Populism: Recent Challenges

This essay examines the interaction of migration and neo-populism. Specifically, some high-income countries are experiencing migration pressures from lower-income countries leading to perceptions of migration crises. Increased migration pressures, driven by a variety of forces, pose policy challenges for receiving states and have offered populist leaders opportunities for political mobilization and electoral success based on anti-immigrant sentiments.
