摘要

This essay explores LGBTQ+ identities in the rhetorics of the new populist leaders across the globe. It examines various aspects of the LGBTQ+ identities as reflected in policymaking in various countries. These policies influence the fundamental rights such as health care, education, and housing of the people. Questioning the efficacy of such problematic and exclusive policies, this essay argues that such policies are in fact delimiting in nature and disregard and invalidate the nuances of these identities. Furthermore, such policies relegate them to the periphery of contemporary society. This essay is a comment on the ineffectiveness of such policies and calls for a broader outlook with respect to LGBTQ+ identities. The authors suggest various measures to curb extremist notions in the conceptualization of these identities in policymaking.
