New Populism and Globalization

The purpose of this chapter is to describe the separate and often parallel processes of the new populism movement and globalization orientation. It also considers how the emphasis of new populism initiatives and globalization goals are frequently in conflict rather than they are in harmoniously complementary. The historical events, populist messages, and globalization movements are discussed. The interactions between populists and globalists are examined. Lessons and implications are summarized.
