摘要

The absorption of Ethiopian Israelis into the larger Israeli society is an ongoing process that has extended over more than 40 years and will doubtless continue to be monitored for many years more. As this chapter illustrates, it is possible to point out successes and failures. Among the areas considered are immigration, housing, employment, military service, and various aspects of racism. One of the most important trends is that in the twenty-first century, Ethiopian Israelis, particularly those born and/or raised in Israel, have taken increased responsibility for their community and its larger relations, and this trend will surely continue and accelerate over the coming decades.
