In this chapter, various techniques for obtaining metamaterial properties (i.e., the electrical permittivity and magnetic permeability) have been discussed. Three different approaches to extract these parameters have been illustrated. The second section deals with the extraction from S-parameters and some associated shortcomings. These shortcomings are attempted to be resolved by the Phase unwrapping method, which is discussed in the next section. Finally, the extraction of electromagnetic parameters from inhomogeneous metamaterials has been elaborated.
