ICT for Poor: Digital Pathways to Empowerment and Inclusive Development in India
摘要
This chapter looks at a number of recent ICT initiatives in India that aim to empower impoverished and underprivileged groups by providing more access to digital tools, services, and opportunities. It demonstrates how the fast spread of digital technology, notably smartphones, affordable data, and public digital infrastructure, has created new opportunities for inclusion and socioeconomic mobility. A major emphasis is on how ICTs are being integrated into rural development plans via smart village models, digital agriculture platforms, and community-based telecenters to improve livelihoods, increase access to information, and empower local decision-making. These initiatives not only improve service delivery efficiency but also provide more chances for education, health, and skill development in rural areas.
