Serbia

The regulation of hate speech in Serbia can best be understood through the country’s normative mechanisms. Particularly important are the mechanisms of constitutional law, statutory and administrative law, and criminal law, along with relevant international legal instruments. Although Serbia has a solid normative framework for combatting hate speech, the main obstacle is its timely application. Equally important are questions of judicial practice, which shed light on the translation of these normative frameworks into practice.
