The Role of Unmanned Systems in Modern Maritime Warfare
摘要
The chapter examines the transformative impact of unmanned systems, particularly drones, on contemporary naval operations. It highlights how Ukraine’s adoption of unmanned systems has reshaped naval warfare in the Black Sea, allowing a relatively small military power to effectively challenge a dominant Russian fleet. The integration of AI technologies, network-centric warfare, and the establishment of specialized drone units are central to Ukraine’s strategy, which has led to significant operational success. The chapter also explores Russia’s response and development of its own unmanned systems, signaling a new era of competition in maritime warfare. This evolution requires NATO and regional allies, such as Romania, to develop coordinated strategies to defend critical infrastructure from unmanned threats.
