Sustainable Use of Materials Found in Military Brownfield Sites: Repurposing and Recycling Opportunities for Industrial Growth
摘要
The abandoned Brownfield military installations may provide resources that may provide regional economic benefits. Materials that are recovered may be re-utilized in the local economy and remaining structures and real estate also re-purposed to help local economies. A community engaged approach for Brownfield development is outlined, emphasizing a materials science and engineering perspective that will be important in deciding appropriate pathways for resource utilization and re-purposing. An example of a possible economic and environmentally sustainable industrial application as a development pathway is also provided.
