Risks of Nuclear Threats in Modern War

The war in Ukraine has become one of the largest military conflicts since World War II. It has heightened concerns about the potential for either controlled or uncontrolled radiation contamination over a wide area. Currently, it can be stated that the war is fought primarily with the use of conventional weapons. Despite the calls of certain journalists and semi-officials in the Russian Federation to launch nuclear strikes on Ukraine or NATO countries, no movements towards such actions have been observed so far. Furthermore, it is important to state that the use of nuclear weapons in general will not solve the underlying causes of the conflict, therefore, the probability of their use appears to be quite low in this particular war.
