  • Niculae Iancu

摘要

The significance of “Regional Strategy for Medical Response as Part of the Disaster Management in Case of Radiation” this workshop was deeply emphasised by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech at the UN General Assembly in New York, which fortuitously took place on the Bucharest event’s inaugural day. Zelensky vividly highlighted how Russia, in its aggression against Ukraine, is harnessing essential resources, notably nuclear energy, food, and fossil fuels. The worrying perspective that Russia might convert Ukrainian nuclear sites into dirty bombs has amplified existing fears. The core message emerges openly from the labyrinth of concerns: The fear of a nuclear showdown, accentuated by Russia’s calculated strategies, has repercussions far beyond Ukraine’s borders. The actions of a dominant state like Russia can, and likely do, influence how the world responds to forceful actions and land grabs by other assertive nations. Therefore, President Zelensky concluded that the responsibility now lies on the international community, transcending the boundaries of “great powers,” to address this looming spectre and forge a path toward sustainable peace and security.
