The Effect of the Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) Pandemic on the Happiness and Wellbeing on Some Countries in the Non-Western World
摘要
Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) has affected the entire world since its emergence and has become a global health problem. The rapid spread of the disease, the rise in mortality rates, the lack of an effective treatment, and the measures that governments have taken to protect against the disease (such as quarantine, social isolation, and the obligation to wear masks) have negatively affected the psychological state of societies and laid the groundwork for the emergence of health issues and disorders in people such as fear, anxiety, depression, stress, and panic. In this context, as the pandemic progressed, the happiness and wellbeing of many people were seriously jeopardised. No doubt, some non-western countries have primarily been among the countries affected by this adverse situation. This chapter discusses the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on people’s happiness and wellbeing in several non-western societies.
