The chapter is concerned with the problems that arise in translating Kepler. Topics discussed include specific issues of translation, extant Kepler translations and their intended readers’ requirements, Kepler’s Latin, understanding the mathematics, treatment of diagrams, treatment of observations, style and ornamentation.
