Operatic Margins: The Reception of G. F. Handel in Croatia and Hungary
摘要
A growing body of literature has been studying Handel reception, including some in-depth confrontations with the way Handel’s music was understood and performed in different political settings of the 20th century, particularly in the German-speaking world. As an attempt to contribute to a decentralisation of focus on Western Europe, some aspects of the performance and reception history of the works of G. F. Handel in Hungary and Croatia will be undertaken, with a particular emphasis on the composer’s operas.
