Musica Poetica: The Theory of the Affects and the Music Rhetoric Figures of the Baroque

As previously explained, the retrospective interest towards the ancient linguistic related rhetoric theories, originating in the 14th century Humanism, represented the springboard for the developments of the musical rhetorics of the baroque. There was a liberation from the medieval way of thinking, which consequently instigated the will to engage again on the theories of antiquity. In this way, the building blocks for the doctrine of the musical rhetorics are the ancient classical rhetoric theories.
