Carnivorous Plants
摘要
These plants are also green and no less delicate and beautiful than others, but unlike them, they love meat. In the plant world, they are true “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” The first description of an insect-eating plant dates back to 1769, and in 1875, “Insectivorous Plants” by Charles Darwin was published. At the time, it was fiercely criticized by botanists. The director of the Pittsburgh Botanical Garden wrote: “This is a theory at which any reasonable botanist would laugh. If the English believe it, it is only out of respect for Mr. Darwin.”
