Documentation: Maintaining Academic Integrity
摘要
This chapter addresses the requirements and forms of documentation when using artificial intelligence (AI) in academic work. It first describes the principles of responsible AI use—transparency and labeling, accountability and expert oversight, as well as ethical, fair, and legal use—and situates these within the context of scientific integrity. It then presents current regulations from leading scientific publishers, particularly the clear distinction between assistive and generative AI, requirements for disclosure, and the handling of biases in AI-generated content. The chapter explains various forms of documentation, ranging from holistic and tool-oriented to work-phase-oriented, reflection-oriented documentation, and AI cards. Each form of documentation is contextualized in terms of its purpose, application, and practical examples. The aim of this chapter is to present principles and practice-oriented forms of documenting AI use in order to safeguard scientific integrity in research.
