Interview With the Medical Director of Emergency Services Frankfurt am Main, Dr. med. Frank Naujoks
摘要
Dr. Naujoks, you have been an emergency physician for many years. Why did you choose this profession? It all began in the 10th grade of my schooling. A friend wanted to move his finger back and forth through a flame as a dare. Unfortunately, it was not a candle, but a Bunsen burner. The injury left the science teacher at a loss at the time. That made me think: “How helpful it would be if someone could assist here.” After completing a first aid course, I then set up the school medical service at my school together with a classmate. Through the first aid course, I was introduced to the topic of emergency medicine as a young person, since during the course the ambulance (RTW) stationed at the course location was dispatched several times. I then began volunteering with a relief organization and completed the classic career path there, from medical orderly, emergency medical assistant, third crew member on the ambulance, and so on. At that time, there was still compulsory military service or, alternatively, civilian service. After the appropriate recognition, I then completed 24 months of civilian service in Frankfurt am Main following my training as a paramedic—a time that is still very vivid in my memory.
