Frame Resistances
摘要
On the one hand, these are resistances against the external framework of treatment, such as missing sessions, arriving late, dropping out of therapy, or a destructive, treatment-endangering approach to suicidality or substance use. On the other hand, these resistances concern the internal framework, the regulatory structure that dictates to the patient what she should and may do in therapy and what she may not. In addition to the prohibition of violent outbursts in the therapy room, this primarily involves phenomena such as silence, falling asleep, or failure to follow basic rules such as free association in psychodynamic approaches or adherence to exercises in behavioral therapy.
