Postoperative Carotid Occlusion
摘要
Postoperative carotid occlusion, a fortunately rare complication of carotid surgery, occurs in the majority of cases within the first few hours postoperatively, sometimes even in the operating room. Often, insufficient ligation of crossing veins or anastomotic bleeding is the cause. In some cases, however, the anastomotic region appears unremarkable intraoperatively despite diffuse bleeding tendency due to anticoagulant therapy.
