This chapter provides an overview of the current state of research on generational differences with regard to work-related attitudes. It takes into account findings from studies employing various research designs (meta-analyses, cross-sectional, and longitudinal designs). In doing so, it aims to highlight the issues arising from the conflation of age, career stage, and generation as influencing factors. In addition to international studies, German-language research is presented separately to offer insight into the local labor market. The findings reveal research gaps, among other reasons because members of Generation Z have not yet been considered as employees in previous studies.

摘要

This chapter provides an overview of the current state of research on generational differences with regard to work-related attitudes. It takes into account findings from studies employing various research designs (meta-analyses, cross-sectional, and longitudinal designs). In doing so, it aims to highlight the issues arising from the conflation of age, career stage, and generation as influencing factors. In addition to international studies, German-language research is presented separately to offer insight into the local labor market. The findings reveal research gaps, among other reasons because members of Generation Z have not yet been considered as employees in previous studies.
